Original lithograph from the graphic kit of the work “Naturgeschichte und Abbildungen der Menschen und der Saugetiere” printed by the swiss lithographer Honegger and published in Zurich between 1830 and 1835.
Nice example printed on wove paper, with small foxing spots otherwise in good general condition.
Beautiful representation of two natives of Waigeo Island which is located about sixty-five kilometers from the coast of New Guinea, to note the peculiarity of the hairstyle of the character on the left that seems to contain a flute and the traditional headdress of the one on the right.
Since 1997 this island has been home to intensive oyster farms managed by an Australian company.
